Q1

When and where did the proposal take place, and how did it unfold?

The proposal was done in true Andrew form – extravagant and amazing. The short story is that he proposed the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving by leading me on a scavenger hunt through our apartment, into an Uber, and ending with me meeting him in a room at the Soho Grand Hotel. There was a party that night with all of our friends and then a Thursday Thanksgiving celebration with both of our families, followed by a surprise trip to Paris over the weekend. There were so many moving parts, I still can’t believe he pulled it off.

Q2

On your day, what was your first thought when you woke up in the morning?

My first thought was: thank f***ing god its not raining!!!

Q3

What did you base your choice of location on?

The beach!!! Since we started dating we have spent our summers together in the Hamptons and it is such a special place for us. Also, I am a teacher and knew I wanted a wedding that was not during the school year, so June in Montauk worked perfectly.

Q4

What aspects of your wedding most reflected your personality?

The bridal party not wearing shoes during the ceremony. We are super laid back, and toes in the sand is our favorite feeling in the world, so even though the wedding was black tie, it was still beachy.

Q5

What was running through your mind while walking down the aisle?

Jasmine: I love this song. I love this guy. I love this day.

Our wedding ceremony featured only songs from the Across the Universe soundtrack, I walked down the aisle to I Wanna Hold Your Hand with the lyrics and it was so perfect and exactly how I had imagined it. Andrew still cries every time he hears that version of the song. We love music and we love to dance and our wedding night was the ultimate combination of the two, all the way through the after party.

Andrew: OMG this is happening!

Walking down the aisle I was thinking: I love this song. I love this guy. I love this day.

I remember taking a deep breath and listening to the sound of the waves crashing and thinking this can’t be real life. There is nothing better than the sounds, smells, and feels of being oceanfront.

Q6

If you had to choose, what would you say was the best part of your wedding day?

My favorite moment of the wedding was during the ceremony when our Rabbi asked us to close our eyes and press our foreheads together while he recited a prayer. I was able to be completely present and in the moment, even though 220 people were looking at me. I remember taking a deep breath and listening to the sound of the waves crashing and thinking this can’t be real life. This is just way too perfect and beautiful. There is nothing better than the sounds, smells, and feels of being oceanfront. My senses were all so heightened and I could live in that moment forever.
Andrew’s favorite part was the Saxophone-led conga line to the afterparty through the hotel. He absolutely loves the sax and we loved that it kept the party vibes going.

Q7

What do you hope your guests remember most about your wedding day?

Smiling, laughing, dancing, and pink!

Q8

What is your advice for brides and grooms planning their own celebration? Did you follow this advice yourself?

My advice would be to make sure that your personalities come through as much as possible. At our age we go to so many weddings and I think it’s super important for there to be even just a small defining feature so they don’t all feel the same and generic. I guess I would say that ours were doing the ceremony beachfront, bold decor, and totally dog friendly.
