Q1

When and how did the two of you meet, and what is most memorable about your first meeting?

Nicole: Honestly, we were always family friends so I wouldn’t say we had a first meeting. Because our families have always been so close, we were already pretty friendly before we started dating. The most memorable moment was when Dan asked me out on a date. I wasn’t really expecting because I thought we were just family friends, but taking it to that next level was so special since we already were good friends and our families were so close.

Daniel: Since we are from the same community and were always close family friends, we don’t have a traditional “first met” story.  However we did go out for the first time at the Gramercy Park Hotel, which is also where we got engaged! It was special to come full circle in that sense.

Q2

What did you base your choice of location on?

Nicole: We wanted to have a city wedding and loved Cipriani Wall Street. The people we worked with were very pleasant, it was overall a great decision and amazing experience to work with their team.

Daniel: Besides for being one of the most beautiful venues in Manhattan, Cipriani is a special place for us.  We’ve had many celebrations there and felt drawn for those reasons.

Q3

What was running through your mind while walking down the aisle?

Nicole: We have a special story that went on for a few years, so for me I could not tell you how happy I was standing there. It felt like a dream. That was the most magical moment for me.

Daniel: Personally I felt very ready and calm.  I was mainly focused on Nicole and taking in everything going on around me.  I was also thinking about the future and being a husband.

...we were cracking up because only we would go and have soft serve on our wedding day.

Q4

Was there anything particularly surprising or unexpected about the task of wedding planning?

Nicole: For me at least, the invitation process was surprisingly challenging. All the work was well worth it but the process of making the list, designing the invitations and sending them out was the most time consuming but exciting task to work on.

Daniel: Not in particular.  Guest lists and table seating are challenging, but it’s only stressful if you make it that way.  For fellow grooms I’d recommend picking 1-2 things that you especially care about, and exerting your effort toward those.  For me, it was the music and the drinks. Also, definitely set up a food tasting with your caterer!

Q5

What were the non-traditional and/or personalized components of your wedding ceremony?

Nicole: My Sneakers!!!! I am a crazy sneaker girl and needed to wear sneakers to my wedding. Dan didn’t expect anything less !

Daniel: We decided to be pretty traditional with the ceremony.  I surprised my best friend and had him be the ‘witness’ for my Ketubah signing.  His autograph will be framed on our wall forever, I guess.  I picked the Hebrew song ‘Nishba’ to walk down the aisle to, which is a Groom’s promises to his Bride.  We also had groomsmen and bridesmaids walk down the aisle – which is actually rare from our circles.

Q6

Which quality do you most admire about one another?

Nicole: If I had to choose, I would say how confident and caring he is. Not to mention how handsome and fun he is to be with!

Daniel:  Nicole is just a bundle of happiness and energy and sweetness and kindness.  She also understands me.

It felt like a dream. That was the most magical moment for me.

Q7

What was a highlight of your wedding day?

Nicole: Um I have to choose one!!?? Probably lining up to walk down the aisle. I remember when the music came on, Dan and I just looked at each other with the biggest smile. I was so excited to marry him.

Daniel: Of course seeing Nicole dressed up as a bride was a moment I’ll never forget.  Also being on stage with her during the party with all our family and friends celebrating us was amazing.

Q8

Is there anything you would do differently?

Nicole: Nothing!

Daniel: Yup.  I would have packed an extra TWO shirts to change into mid-wedding (I had only packed one).

Q9

Were there any funny moments that especially stand out?

Nicole: The first time I saw Dan that day, I hugged him (of course) and when I looked down I saw my makeup was on his shirt. I felt so bad, but good thing it didn’t show! It’s funny now but in the moment I felt so bad. Also having ice cream, we were cracking up because only we would go and have soft serve on our wedding day.

Daniel:   During our first look, Nicole’s makeup smudged all over my shirt collar as a result of a big hug.  For a minute I was like oh, shoot- this isn’t gonna be good for pictures- but we just went with it. We fully bought ice cream from a truck during outdoor pictures. Also when I picked her up on the aisle, I stood on the wrong side of her.  The man always has to stand on the left of the bride, so I had to pull a smooth maneuver as we were climbing the steps up to the Chuppah. Everyone probably noticed. Having our little cousins on stage dancing (“flossing” was the popular move) was hilarious.

Q10

Where do you see yourselves in 30 years?

Nicole: Hopefully as happy as we are today!

Daniel: As long as we wake up in the morning and have breakfast together I’m a happy man.

Besides for being one of the most beautiful venues in Manhattan, Cipriani is a special place for us.
