In our experience we’ve seen proposals come in all shapes and sizes. Isaac’s ingenuity in asking Lindsay to marry him, however, ups the ante. Yes, it involved a room full of red roses, balloons, cookies, fruit and confetti. But it also featured the collaboration of 40 or so friends and family members.

“Ever since I met Lindsay,” says Isaac, “I’ve told her that everyone loves her, so for the proposal I wanted to show her.” After walking into their apartment, filled with said romantic accoutrements, Isaac turned on the television and proceeded to play a video of everyone Lindsay knows saying how much they loved her. “My jaw was on the floor for the next five minutes,” remembers the beloved in question. “And in the end Isaac got on one knee and said he loved me the most!”

Little more than a year later, Lindsay’s family and friends gathered in person to watch the couple show their love for each other in an even more emphatic way by joining their lives together. Honoring each other and their families, Lindsay and Isaac celebrated their wedding with a number of Sephardic traditions that gave depth and beauty to the event and its lead-up. The overwhelming atmosphere of the day—and night—was joy and love.

“Lindsay has the biggest heart and it shows by the amount of love she gives and receives from everyone,” says Isaac. “Her capacity for love, compassion, sensitivity and understanding is truly unmatched.”

Q1

How did you first meet each other?

Lindsay: One of my best friends (Maid of Honor 1—yes, I had two!) took me to a law school party. She told me all about a guy she was dying to see but I was very hesitant to go because I was supposed to be the wing woman. Ultimately, MOH 1 and her mom convinced me to go. Things didn’t go as planned with the guy but to my surprise a few months after graduating college I met the love of my life, Isaac, at a law school party! We danced the night away and all that mattered that night was him and I. He was fun, smart, handsome and caring. To make a long story short, he ended up driving me around to multiple restaurants in the area looking for rice because I dropped my brand new iPhone 5 in the toilet that night.

Isaac: We met at a law school party, even though she didn’t go to law school, I was lucky she was there. I approached her and immediately noticed her big beautiful smile and warm personality. My first impression was simply wow; she’s smart, gorgeous, sweet, cute and amazing to talk to.

HOLY CRAP! I get to marry my best friend today!

Ever since I was little I dreamed of having a wedding in New York City. The St. Regis has a classic, intimate feel we love.

Q2

Describe any specific family or cultural traditions that were important to you during your wedding planning.

Lindsay: To be taught by a Rebbetzin and have a Mikvah before our wedding. It was a very special spiritual time that I will remember dearly. This was an important Sephardic tradition that I wanted to honor for myself and Isaac’s family.

Isaac: Something that was important to us was having a Kosher caterer. To no one’s surprise, Foremost put together an amazing menu.

Q3

What did you base your choice of location on?

Lindsay: Since Isaac and I both are from New York, we knew the city would make sense. Ever since I was little I dreamed of having a wedding here. The St. Regis has a classic, intimate feel that we love. We both also love the history the hotel has.

Isaac: Immediately, when I saw the hotel I was stunned by its timeless elegance and beautiful décor.

Q4

On your day, what was your first thought when you woke up in the morning?

Lindsay: I had this unbelievable feeling of excitement and anticipation. I thought, please be sunny outside! Is Isaac awake? Are my bridesmaids here yet? Picking a winter month, we were hoping for a cold and crisp sunny winter day, and that is exactly what we got. I couldn’t wait for the day to start.

Isaac: HOLY CRAP! I get to marry my best friend today!

Everything fell into place perfectly. It was easy to marry my best friend.

Q5

What was a highlight of your wedding day?

Lindsay: Seeing Isaac for the first time then dancing the night away with him. I remember smiling and dancing all night long and everyone we loved surrounding us, watching and celebrating with us.

Isaac: I’d say it’s a tie between when I first saw Lindsay and when I broke the glass and kissed her under the chuppah.

Q6

Did anything surprise you?

Lindsay: Everything fell into place perfectly. Everyone kept warning us that things could go wrong, to expect something to go wrong. There is so much effort leading up to this day, and everything was so seamless. It was easy to marry my best friend.

Q7

Is there anything you would do differently?

Lindsay: Eat five more pieces of our rainbow cookie cake.

Isaac: Maybe have a drink with a couple of people from out of town, but overall it was a perfect day.

Lindsay taught me ‘I love you’ means I cherish everything about you, I keep you in my heart and I’ll think about you every minute of every day.

Q8

Which quality do you most admire about one another?

Lindsay: I love how kind Isaac is. He would do anything for anyone and everyone knows it.

Isaac: Lindsay has the biggest heart and it shows by the amount of love she gives and receives from everyone. Her capacity for love, compassion, sensitivity and understanding is truly unmatched.

Q9

What is the most valuable thing that you have learned from each other?

Lindsay: Patience is everything. I wouldn’t have been able to plan our wedding without him. He has taught me to be calm and patient.

Isaac: The most valuable thing I’ve learned is that “I love you” means more than the plain text meaning of the words. Lindsay taught me “I love you” means I cherish everything about you, I keep you in my heart and I’ll think about you every minute of every day.

I remember smiling and dancing all night long and everyone we loved surrounding us, watching and celebrating with us.
